The Political Agent & What became of susan - 7.30, Monday 20 January

Player Playwrights returns for a new season on Monday 20th January at the North London Tavern with two new plays:

THE POLITICAL AGENT by Clive Moffatt

Harold Jacobs, Conservative MP for Wragby is caught up in a #Me Too scandal. But all is not quite what it seems. A modern table of political correctness, hypocrisy, corruption, adultery, political intrigue and naked ambition..

Written and directed by Clive, the performance is a showcase preview - a draft of the final act of what will be a four act 80-90 minute play to be completed and hopefully performed this year.

Clive has experience as an actor in various shows for KDC and South London Theatre. He set up Nomadic Theatre Productions in 2014 to promote new writers, actors and technicians. His first production was a version of TARTUFFE written by Matthew Partridge and performed at the Shoreditch Theatre. His most recent show was NOSTALGIA, a lyrical revue which Clive wrote, produced and directed and which was performed at the White Bear, London and the Theatre Royal, Wakefield.

WHAT BECAME OF SUSAN by Giles Armstrong

Generations of children have rejoiced in THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, the seven volume saga by C S Lewis. At the end of the last book there is a joyous reunion of all the main human characters from the earlier tales, except one. Susan, once a Queen of Narnia, is missing. She is no longer 'Queen of Narnia.' Why? Why was she written out? Some say that Lewis wrote THE LAST BATTLE in haste, anxious to get on to other matters. Others, that he intended to give Susan a valedictory of her own.

Actually, Susan's absence from THE LAST BATTLE and from the terrible disaster which destroyed her family on Earth, was no accident. It was necessary, so that the glorious potential of the Pevensie family should be preserved.
