short play contest open for entries

The autumn competition for members will be held via zoom on Monday 2 December.

Authors are invited to submit a play of 1000-1500 words on a subject of their own choosing.

You have until Monday 11 November to send us your entry

A reminder of the rules:

Entries from PP members only, to be emailed to Giles Armstrong at gkarmstrong@ukhome.net by Monday 11 November at the latest.

Scripts should be limited to between 1000-1500 words including spoken stage directions only. Monologues will not be accepted.

Entries should be submitted in Word format rather than pdf.

Scripts to include two to four characters (of either sex) with a list of their names. The author's name must not appear.

Authors may suggest casting, depending on actors' availability, but the final choice will be at the discretion of casting secretary, Lynne O'Sullivan.

Authors may have ONE read through with the cast, and give brief notes. Authors are responsible for arranging this themselves via their own Zoom facility.

The cast are asked not to reveal the names of authors so that as far as possible these are not known.

Only the first ten entries received will be accepted for the competition but we may be able to arrange readings of surplus scripts on another occasion.

The script submitted to Giles will be the final one. No amendment of scripts will be permitted.

Scores must be emailed to Lynne by Thursday 5th December.

Authors are not permitted to vote for their own entry.

Zoom link and score sheets will be sent out nearer the time.
