ON ZOOM - THE FRONT LINE by David Hutchison, 7.30, Monday 17 March

martinplayer

THE FRONT LINE is focused on a broadcast journalist, Don Robertson, who has reached a critical stage in his career, having seen too much of war and conflict.

He is seeking to find a new role at home, but that is proving difficult.

At the same time, Don finds himself being asked to help a young journalist, who has fallen foul of the post-Soviet mafia, to leave the country before he comes to serious harm.

Don's desperate attempt to do so becomes a central part of the plot. At the end the question of whether Don himself will go back into the field to report from Ukraine inevitably rises.

What will he do?

David Hutchison has worked for most of his career at Glasgow Caledonian University, specialising in media policy. He has been a member of the BBC's General Advisory Council and Chair of Regional Screen Scotland.
