DR FREUD WILL SEE YOU NOW, MRS HITLER'  MARKS & GRAN Monday, 10 February, 7.30pm, Upstairs @ North London Tavern

When he was seven years old, Adolf Hitler was taken by his mother Klara to visit their local GP, Dr Bloch, a Jew. Adolf suffered from constant bedwetting. What Klara never told Dr Bloch at the consultation was that Adolf's father, a brute of a civil servant, severely beat the child every time the kid wet the bed or cried.

Dr Bloch, realising that there was little he could do to help the psychological issues of this child, told Mrs Hitler that there was a doctor in Vienna who specialised in children's problems of Adolf's nature, and he would like to refer Mrs Hitler and Adolf to him. He was Sigmund Freud.

The play charts the four times in their lives when Sigmund Freud and Adolf Hitler happened to be in the same place at the same time...

Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran are Britain’s leading comedy writing team, having started to write together at Player Playwrights, where they are now joint presidents.  Their credits include Birds of a Feather, The New Statesman, and comedy writing for top comics like Frankie Howerd.
