Peter Kavanagh has had an amazing career producing award winning radio and television drama, as well as writing and directing for the theatre.
He started his career in advertising before joining BBC Northern Ireland. He has worked as a script editor for BBC Drama and producer/director of BBC audio drama.
He has written and directed short drama and longer dramas starring the likes of Bono, Andrew Scott and Peter Vaughn for BBC Arena and BBC Northern Ireland.
Awards include Prix Italia, Sony, Writers Guild, BBC Audio Drama Awards, TAPS Bafta, and Columbus Film Festival.
Peter has also written, translated and directed stage plays at the King’s Head, Tristan Bates, Chichester Theatre Festival, Ink Festival, Dublin Theatre Festival and Royal Court London. Most recently he produced Paul Kember’s ‘Not Quite Jerusalem’ at the Finborough Theatre, which had an Offies nomination for best performance
He has written articles for the Guardian, Irish Times and TLS.
Peter will talk about his career in audio and film drama and working as a writer and director across multiple platforms. A radio drama he directed about Edith Piaf is available on BBC Sounds for the next few days.
