An end of year message from the Player Playwright board

After a break made necessary by the Covid-19 lockdown Player Playwrights continued via Zoom.

Usually at our readings at the North London Tavern, there has been a small charge of £2.50 at the door, but all members now have access to live play readings online at no extra cost, which makes Player Playwrights rather good value. In fact, we are probably the least expensive club in town.

While these online meetings have been most successful, they have added to our expenses in terms of upgraded Zoom memberships to cover rehearsals, scanning and distribution of scripts, website maintenance, regular bulletins and general ongoing admin.

To continue receiving links to the Zoom meetings whether you are an actor, writer or just a fan of new theatre, please renew your membership which becomes due on 1st January.

We have frozen our annual membership costs. It remains at £12 for the first year with an £8 annual renewal fee due on 1st January 2021. If you have recently joined or renewed your subs this will carry you through to Jan 1st 2022.

To renew your membership of find out about becoming a member contact Tony Diggle on tonydiggle@cainct.co.uk

As a member you will be able to share your views about the evening's play with the writer and the rest of the audience after the performance and make your vote count in our awards ceremony.

You can send us your plays to be considered for inclusion in our programme. Our team of experienced readers provide mentorship of your work and of course, you will be able to enter our regular contests.

Our player members get featured on our website and can get their fix of performing new work live before an appreciative audience at a time when live theatre remains restricted.

We hope that you remain part of the Player Playwrights family and support your fellow theatre lovers through these difficult times.

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year
