Monday 25 March: The Boss by Charles Palliser

THE BOSS is a black farce set in real-time. It takes place over one evening in the office of a paranoid dictator during which the psychopathic “Boss” tries to discover which of his closest associates has possibly arranged for a bomb to be smuggled into his presence. It’s a comedy, but it’s also about how power is exercised through bullying and intimidation and about the forms that resistance takes. Charles Palliser has published five novels of which THE QUINCUNX is the best known. Two radio plays of his have been broadcast by the BBC.
