The Powers That Be: play reading Monday, 14 January

‘The Powers That Be’ by Melville Lovatt

Matt and Gary are ‘minding’ a man and awaiting instructions from the powers that be.

Instructions which will decide the man’s fate, and also, unbeknown to Gary, his own.

For Gary, the time has finally come to prove himself to the powers that be.

‘It’s an aptitude test of some kind, that’s all’.

‘The Powers That Be’ is a claustrophobic comedy thriller which won 1st prize in The Sussex Playwrights Club Full Length Playwriting Competition in 2007. The play was presented as a rehearsed reading as part of The Brighton Fringe Festival, but has still to receive a full production.

The author has worked again on the play very recently and this new version is being presented for the first time.
